Bioshock 2 Preview
Bioshock 2 is arguably one of the least needed sequels of all time, as the ending for the first game was very much satisfying, no matter if you chose to save the Little Sisters or not. However, play-testers have reacted positively to the new game and have stated that although the ending in the first game was satisfying, there’s something unsettling happening in Rapture that would have us return.. and make the return well worth it.
The biggest perk of the game which has been known for a while is that you begin the game.. and possibly play through the entire game, as a Big Daddy. That’s right, you’re a colossal metal monstrosity which is help bent on keeping all of the Little Sisters of Rapture safe from harm. Of course, if you played through the first game, you realize you became a Big Daddy toward the end to defeat Frank Fontaine after his massive transformation, so one has to wonder, what’s in store for our wordless hero Jack now that he has a 600lb. suit of metal attached to his body and a drill for a weapon?
Elements of the first game return in the second, though they have been much improved. The hacking game which was little more than a game of plumbing gone wrong has been significantly tweaked to be just a bit more, and of course, you can still splice your genes with all manner of nasty things, from electricity to telekinesis. This was really the main draw of the first game, and while it’s difficult to understand how 2K Games will incorporate it into the storyline given the fact that you’re now a Big Daddy, it should be interesting to see. Bioshock 2 splashes down in Q1 of 2010, so look for it then.
