CrimeCraft Banned In Australia
The list of games which are on Australia’s ban list these days just keeps growing. In fact, it would probably be more beneficial to make a list of the games which ARE allowed, instead of trying to list all of the games which aren’t. Left 4 Dead 2 was the last title to piss off the Aussies, but the now free-to-play MMO CrimeCraft has fallen under scrutiny as well.
As with Left 4 Dead, the game isn’t necessarily banned, so much as refused a classification under Australia’s archaic and outdated classification system. While this doesn’t put the label of banned on the game, it does make it impossible to sell inside the country, as it’s illegal to sell games without a rating. The apparent offending material in CrimeCraft is the usage of drugs as a currency. While this is a staple in the game which is admittedly about life on the streets, drug depiction is the same reason Fallout 3 had to be edited before it could be presented to Australians.
There’s currently no word on whether CrimeCraft will offer a “clean” version for Australians to partake.
