Resident Evil 5 DLC Dated
These days its getting more and more common for game developers to support their games with downloadable content, or DLC. Through DLC, they can extend the life of their game and still squeeze a few extra bucks out of their admiring fans. This business model was made popular by Valve with their episodes of Half Life content, and very rarely do we see an AA title released on the market without some promise of DLC in the future. Resident Evil 5 is no exception.
Here are the dates for the future DLC releases for Resident Evil 5, which will apparently have four DLC packages which will include new playable characters and weapon loadouts, as well as tons of new locations and hours of gameplay.
# “Lost in Nightmares” Episode: 2/17/10 (Xbox 360), 2/18/10 (PlayStation 3)
# Costume Pack 1: 2/17/10 (Xbox 360), 2/18/10 (PlayStation 3)
# Episode 2 (Title TBA): 3/3/10 (Xbox 360), 3/4/10 (PlayStation 3)
# Costume Pack 2: 3/3/10 (Xbox 360), 3/4/10 (PlayStation 3)
There have been no official statements from Capcom concerning the cost of these DLC packs, but a Japanese gaming magazine reports that each episode will cost 400 Microsoft Points, which is about $5.
In addition to releasing new DLC, Capcom also has plans on releasing a Resident Evil 5 gold edition, which will include the game and all DLC in one package. The gold package will arrive on March 9th and will cost $49.99, which is a great investment if you don’t already own the original.
