PS3 Goes Slim With Price And Size
Sony had the gaming world buzzing last week when they dropped the price of the PS3 $100 like we mentioned in this post last week. Along with this price drop, they also offered a new system called the PS3 Slim. The name says it all – the unit is much slimmer and has improved energy efficiency. When I say slim, think laptop slim. It includes the same power and graphics as the original PS3 with blu-ray technology and all that jazz. But…it does not offer backwards compatibility to PS2 games. This may or may not be a big deal for you, but those still wanting to play their favorite PS2 games have to be a bit bummed by this. Point of the story is that for $299 its a complete steal if you don’t have a PlayStation gaming system or blu-ray player yet. For a full review of positives and negatives check out CNet’s take.

I’ve heard that Sony removed the option to install a second OS to the new slim. I think this will greatly affect our Linux folks. So far, I’m still looking forward to know the complete features of this new slim. I have no idea if Aion online can be played in PS3 ‘coz if it’s possible then I’d probably buy it.
